The position of an Elementary/Intermediate Bilingual Teacher is available at Palestine ISD for the 2024-2025 school year.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide Emergent Bilingual students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, enabling students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required, to include ELP’s strategies..
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate – EC-6 Bilingual Generalist or Core Subject
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
