QUALIFICATIONS: Masters or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university Texas Speech-Language Pathology License or ASHA Certification Possess the necessary mechanical skills to perform effectively in the curriculum area served Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills ASHA Certification preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Organize and produce an effective and efficient Speech and Language program within each school served following the guidelines set forth in the policies of the district Identify through teacher referral and screening instruments, students who are suspected of having a speech disability Provide initial and on-going assessments and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language development and deficiencies Consult with the ARD committee, secure appropriate forms for each student and serve on that committee as necessary Maintain accurate, complete clinical records on each child enrolled in the speech and language program Develop and maintain an effective professional relationship with classroom teachers, other special education teachers, principals, and school personnal Perform other duties as assigned by proper authority
